Types of UPVC Door Handles
If your door handle made of uPVC is in need of replacement, it's important to find the right replacement for your home. A locksmith can supply and install high-security uPVC handles with added security features.
The most important measurements to consider are the measurement A (also known as PZ) as well as the length of the backplate. Take these measurements to make sure that your new uPVC handle will fit.
Lever/Lever
A lever is a rod that pivots around an object. When you apply a force at the end of the lever, it will tend to rotate the fulcrum in the direction of the applied force. This rotates the force and lets you lift or move objects that would normally require more force to lift.
The distance between the fulcrum and the place where you apply the force determines how far the lever can move. This is referred to as the mechanical advantage. The greater the length of the lever the greater the mechanical advantage. You can calculate the advantage of mechanical by dividing distance from fulcrum point to the place where you are applying force by distance between the fulcrum point and end of lever.
Levers can also have a variety of effects based on the way in which forces are applied. A lever in class 2, for example, has a tendency of rotating in the opposite direction once the effort force is applied. If you push on the door handle, the forces will produce the same rotational effects as this.
However, levers don't create energy. They just multiply the force you apply by converting a small amount of effort across a large distance into a greater amount of force applied over a shorter distance. This allows you to complete more work in a shorter period of time, which is why levers are commonly employed to lift heavy objects or moving large quantities of cargo. The lever principle is employed in everyday tools such as crowbars. hammer claws fishing rods, hammer claws and even your own legs when you stand on the hand brake of your car.
Lever/Pad
Lever pad handles, also referred to as upvc door handles, feature levers on both sides to operate the multipoint locks. These are available in a variety of finishes & variations and can be used on a wide range of materials such as UPVC doors, Aluminium doors & Timber Doors. They are sold as a pair for the inner and outer door with spindles & screws included. They are available in unhanded and handed versions to meet the needs of different users.
These are often used for new constructions and are used to replace the existing doors made of upvc. They are typically operated by lifting the levers, which throw out all of the multipoint locks before turning the key to close and unlock. They offer some extra security in comparison to lever handles for doors as the locking operation is only accessible by entering the door with keys unless the door is locked.
They're not as secure as a cylinder lock, however they are an affordable way to provide extra security to your home. The only drawback is that they don't offer the same level of protection like a cylinder lock and therefore don't block access to the home if the door is left open.
We stock a variety of lever pad upvc handles manufactured by leading manufacturers in the industry. They will therefore be made with high quality components. In general, they come with a manufacturer's guarantee.
Typically, these will be designed to work with a 92mm lock, or the replacement version of this called a Paddock lock. They will feature a cylinder with 82mm diameter on the inside, and 62mm outside. They also come with two spindle followers. Some are supplied with the backplate inserted, while others are removable for different fixing centers.
Lever/Snib
Lever latches are the most basic of door handles are commonly used. The lever is pulled down to operate a simple latch inside the door. It can be locked using a key. Some lever privacy handles operate based on this same principle but with the addition of a Snib (like a doorknob).
A snib is a very useful tool, especially in homes where privacy and security are crucial. If your partner arrives at home late from work, you can apply the snib to ensure they won't be able to enter until they're ready to move in. This kind handle is also used for interior doors such as bedrooms, where you may want to restrict access from the outside.
Snib buttons may cause problems in certain situations, particularly when you have locks that are old and doors that are warped. If the snib button was accidentally pressed or by someone who isn't familiar with it, your door may be slammed and you locked out. In most cases, you can gain entry by knocking on the door frame or letterbox, however this isn't a good idea.
If your uPVC has a snib, we recommend replacing it with an electronic lock from the E-LOK 7 Series. These smart locks can be retrofitted to double-turn pull handle kits. They are available with coverplates that hide holes that are already present to ensure an easy installation. The E-LOK app is able to unlock doors with RFID cards or mechanical keys. Passcodes are also offered to ensure security and convenience. The system is tested to 200,000 cycles to ensure long-term durability. The handles are made from solid metal and meet BS EN 1670 Grade 5 for resistance to corrosion.
Lever/Moveable Pad

This is a well-known handle style for front doors. It has the benefit of stopping the door from being opened from outside without keys if the lock is not deadlocked. This is achieved by the 'pad'-shaped external handle that locks into the gap between the handles and lock case to prevent the latch from being withdrawn or the door opened.
This type of handle is made for uPVC doors fitted with multipoint locks that operate with split spindle technology. This kind of operation requires the internal lever handle as well as the external pad handle to be installed within the same lock case. It could be a simple replacement of the current uPVC handle, but it could also require a change in the lock case or a brand new set to handle furniture.
These aluminum levers and movable pad door handles are ideal for uPVC doors. They feature a maintenance free slide bearing fixing lugs, spring cassettes and fixing lugs included. They have a euro profile cut out and are fitted to a variety of uPVC and timber doors.
The lever moveable pad is available in many finishes to suit a wide selection of multipoint locks. They are designed for use with split spindle locks which have an 92mm centre cylinder and require a specific set of split spindles provided by the lock maker.

Lever/Moveable Snib

It consists of two inline handles that move and can be locked using either a key or thumbturn cylinder inside. Pad handles can be used as a substitute to lever or lever handles. It consists of either a fixed or moveable pad which can be used to operate the lock. These Fullex handles are sprung lever pads that have a snib that can be turned on to hold the latch back.
